AI agent for finance teams

Month-end close, in one message you can act on.

Finance desk is an AI agent for finance teams at month-end. It hands the reconciliation and KPIs to two other agents, builds a 30-day cash outlook itself, checks every key number against your tables, and posts one Slack summary with the invoices to chase, the bills to pay and three decisions.

The problem

Why is month-end close so hard for small finance teams?

Because it's several jobs at once. The bank has to tie out, the KPIs need comparing, and someone has to work out whether cash covers the next month. In a small team that's one person across four spreadsheets, so the close runs late and decisions wait for it.

Without it

  • Month-end spread across four spreadsheets.
  • The cash squeeze shows up when payroll does.
  • Overdue invoices wait until someone looks.
  • Decisions wait for the close to finish.

With Finance desk

  • Reconciliation, KPIs and cash in one message.
  • The 30-day low point, with a date.
  • Invoices to chase and bills to pay, listed.
  • Three decisions, each with a recommendation.
What it covers

What can an AI agent for finance teams cover at month-end?

Four parts of the close in one message. Two come from specialist agents, two it works out itself, and every key number is checked.

  1. 01

    Bank reconciliation

From Bank reconciler: status, lines matched and unmatched, and each exception, checked against your tables.

  2. 02

    Headline KPIs

How it works

How does an AI agent for finance teams work?

Every run follows the same six steps, then posts one summary. Two steps hand work to other agents, and only the last one writes anything.

  1. 1

    Finds your tables

Bank statement, ledger, KPIs, and cash with receivables and payables.

  2. 2

    Hands off the reconciliation

How do finance teams use an AI agent for month-end close?

Give an AI agent your month-end tables and the parts of the close to cover. Finance desk hands the reconciliation and KPIs to two specialist agents, builds the cash outlook itself, checks every number against your tables and posts one summary with decisions. In Arclyx that's five steps, starting with one sentence.

The sentence that built it
“On the 2nd of each month, run our month-end: have Bank reconciler reconcile the bank and KPI reporter report the KPIs, build a 30-day cash outlook from our tables, check every number, and post one summary to #finance.”
Schedule · 2nd of each month, 9:00

    Describe the job

One sentence: which parts of the close, which tables, and where the summary goes.

  2. 2

    Upload your tables

Bank statement, ledger, monthly KPIs, and cash with open receivables and payables, as CSV.

  3. 3

    Add the helpers

Bank reconciler and KPI reporter, so Finance desk can hand them their parts.

  4. 4

    Watch a dry run

Optional. See one full close on your data before anything is posted.

  5. 5

    Schedule it

The 2nd of each month, or whenever your statement arrives.

Or start from one of these sentences

  • Cash outlook only

“Every Monday, build a 30-day cash outlook from our cash, receivables and payables tables and post the low point to #finance.”

  • Collections list

“On the 1st and 15th, list every invoice more than 30 days overdue, largest first, and post it to #finance.”

  • Board-ready close

“On the 5th of each month, run the month-end summary and add a short paragraph for the board update.”

  • Before payroll

“Two days before payroll, check cash against payroll and the bills due that week, and tell me if we'd drop below $20,000.”

Safe by design

Is an AI agent safe for finance work?

It reads your tables, sends one summary to Slack or your inbox, and never posts a number it hasn't checked. You can see every run, and every run has a spend ceiling.

Every run is recorded

  • Every step, in order

Each run keeps a trace: the tables it read, the work it handed off, and what it checked.

  • Every number, checked

Key numbers are verified against the source tables before the message goes out.

  • What each run cost

Tokens and cost are recorded per run and per agent, next to your plan's limits.

  • A ceiling on every run

A run that would pass its dollar ceiling stops and tells you, rather than carrying on.

It can

  • Read the tables you share
  • Hand work to Bank reconciler and KPI reporter
  • Post one summary to Slack, or email it to you

It can't

  • Change your tables or ledger
  • Pay bills or send invoices
  • Post a number it hasn't checked
  • Email anyone but you
  • Post anywhere else
Questions

AI agents for finance teams, answered.

What is an AI agent for finance teams?

An agent that does a defined piece of finance work from your own data and reports back. Finance desk does month-end: it gets the reconciliation and KPIs from two other agents, builds the cash outlook, checks the numbers and posts one summary.

How does it work with Bank reconciler and KPI reporter?

It hands each one its part early, so they work while it builds the cash outlook. They send their results back to Finance desk instead of posting them, and it checks their key numbers against your tables before using them.

What if one of the other agents fails?

Finance desk does that part itself from the same tables and says so in the summary.

Does it post numbers it hasn't checked?

No. Every key number is checked against the source tables before the message goes out. If an agent's result and its own check disagree and it can't work out why, it stops and tells you rather than posting.

How does it build the cash outlook?

From the latest cash balance plus open receivables and payables over the next 30 days: opening balance, expected inflows and outflows, projected ending balance and the low point. It states its assumptions, such as how it defines overdue.

Can it pay bills or chase invoices?

No. It lists the invoices to chase and the bills to pay, with the party, the amount and the days overdue or due date. It reads your tables and sends one summary, to Slack or your inbox; it sends nothing else.

Is it suitable for a small business?

Yes. It suits a small finance team, or a founder who does the books. It works from CSV exports uploaded as tables, so there's no accounting integration to set up first.

Can I get the month-end summary by email instead of Slack?

Yes. Arclyx can send the month-end summary to your own inbox instead of Slack, or as well as it. The email only ever goes to you, the person the agent runs for: it has no way to email anyone else.

Do I need to write code?

No. Describe the job in one sentence. Arclyx builds the agent, connects your tables, the two helper agents and Slack, and shows you a dry run before you schedule it.
